The Herbarium BHZB, that belongs to the Botanical Garden of the Belo Horizonte Zoobotanical Foundation, was created in 1993. Aims to catalog the flora of the Minas Gerais State. Currently, the collection presents 10,426 registered specimens, from the three biomes presents in the State: Mata Atlantica, Cerrado and Caatinga. The most important collections are RPPN Brumas do Espinhaço, Serra da Moeda, Serra do Caraça, Zoobotanical Foundation Reserve, North and Northeast of Minas Gerais, Rio Doce State Park. There are 155 endangered species in the collection. The Herbarium BHZB obtained its registration in the Index Herbariorum in 2013.
