The BOTU Herbarium is registered in the Index Herbariorum and houses a collection of approximately 40,000 specimens. It is an important regional herbarium, containing a significant portion of the voucher specimens collected throughout the State of São Paulo, Brazil. In addition, the herbarium serves as the official repository for botanical materials derived from numerous research projects, undergraduate theses, as well as Master's dissertations and Ph.D. theses conducted within the various Graduate Programs of the Botucatu Campus and other institutions. Currently, the herbarium maintains several special collections, including Leguminosae (the largest collection in the herbarium) and Erythroxylaceae; Flora of the Serra da Mantiqueira; Plants of the São Paulo Cerrado; Plants of the São Paulo Coast and Serra do Mar; the Porto Primavera Collection; the Cerrado 13 de Maio Collection; Toxic and Medicinal Plants of the São Paulo Cerrado; Plants of Humaitá (Amazonas State); the Pratânia Cerrado Collection; and the Lichenized Fungi Collection, comprising approximately 490 specimens.
