The Botanical Collection of Medicinal Plants, CBPM aims to ensure botanical identification and traceability of species in order to favor the safe access and the rational use of medicinal plants and phytotherapics, promoting the sustainable use of biodiversity and the development of RD&I projects related to medicines obtained from vegetals, in accordance with the precepts of the National Policy on Medicinal Plants and Phytotherapics (PNPMF).

The herbarium is registered in the Index Herbariorum and in the Brazilian Network of Herbariums formed from the "Commission of Herbariums" of the Botanical Society of Brazil (SBB). CBPM is an integral part of the Agroecological Phytomedicine Platform (PAF) of the Center for Innovation in Biodiversity and Health (CIBS) - Farmanguinhos / Fiocruz.

The collection is digitized using softwares for biological collections data management (Fiocol and Jabot).

Through the website http://cbpm.fiocruz.br it is possible to know the services provided by the collection and make contact with our team.

Conditions for using the data

The data kept under the responsibility of CBPM are Union patrimony and considered public domain, respecting the three categories below: (A) internal data (management data - not intended for public use) (B) restricted access data (data use is restricted and require individual authorization to be accessed) (C) public data (without any restriction to be accessed) The use of any data of CBPM must be properly credited to the provider collection by quoting it´s name and / or acronym. This credit must be made in any publication, advertisement, correspondence or public display that makes allusion or mention such data. Users of CBPM shall send to the curator a copy of all publications that make use of data or specimen from the collection It´s prohibited any marketing and / or economic gain obtainment derived from data provided by CBPM except in cases that have prior authorization from the curator and are in accordance with the current legislation.
