The DIAM Herbarium, of the Department of Biological Sciences of UFVJM, was created in 2008 with initial collections of specimens from Campo Rupestre environments. The collection currently has approximately 10,500 exsiccates, mostly of Angiosperms from different regions of the Espinhaço Range, mainly the vegetation complexes that comprise the Cerrado, Campo Rupestre and Campo Limpo of the State of Minas Gerais. The collection includes abundant botanical families of Cerrado and grassland vegetation such as Asteraceae, Eriocaulaceae, Xyridaceae, Fabaceae, Velloziaceae, Melastomataceae, Orchidaceae, among others. Our archives include specimens from different preservation areas such as Rio Preto State Park (PERP), Biribiri State Park and Sempre-Vivas National Park. The herbarium contains specimens of species that stand out due to their rarity, endemism and risk of extinction, some of which are registered as type (holotypes, isotypes and paratypes).
