FLOR, the herbarium of the Federal University of Santa Catarina was founded in 1964 by professors Ranulpho José de Souza Sobrinho and Roberto Miguel Klein. The collection includes samples of vascular plants, fungi, and algae. It is the second largest collection of the state and is primarily targeted at the flora of Santa Catarina.

The data are primarily used for education, science, scientific dissemination, and public management. Data should not be used for commercial purposes or resulting in income without authorization of the Curator. Any use must cite the source and, whenever possible, be reported to the Herbarium FLOR.
