The CCAMP includes strains from different sources, which are cultivated, characterized and preserved by the technical staff of the Campylobacter Division at the Bacterial Zoonoses Laboratory (LABZOO) of Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC).
In the collection, there are about 1.500 strains of Campylobacter spp. in viable conditions, genetically stable, pure and available for research free of charge for several national and international institutions.
There are isolates from human clinical materials, cultures from other animals of warm blood, environmental and food borne strains, besides standard strains (ATCC and other sources).
The direct connection of CCAMP with research developed at the Campylobacter Division, allows the characterization of strains using phenotypic and genotypic methods mainly based on DNA analysis, following the technological advances of the area.
