The collection of the Herbarium of the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná consists of terrestrial plants, algae, fungi, and lichens, primarily from the eastern region of the state of Paraná, including the coastal plain, Serra do Mar, and the first and second Paraná plateaus, with specimens mainly from the municipalities of Curitiba, Paranaguá, Piraquara, and Morretes. The collection includes five paratypes and one isotype. The best-represented families in the collection are: Asteraceae, Fabaceae, Orchidaceae, and Melastomataceae. In 2023, it incorporated the herbarium collection of the Espírita College of Curitiba (HFIE), which includes approximately 7,000 specimens. The herbarium has an exchange program for materials with other institutions and offers species identification services on demand.
