About the Converter
The Coordinate Converter is a tool developed by CRIA (Centro de Referência em Informação Ambiental) to assist researchers, biologists, and environmental professionals in converting different types of geographic coordinate representations.
Supported Formats
- Decimal Degrees: Format using decimal numbers, e.g., -47.0756, -22.8250
- Degrees-Minutes-Seconds: Traditional format with degrees, minutes and seconds, e.g., 47W 04' 34", 22S 49' 54"
- UTM: Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system, e.g., 286908, 7473572
Supported Datums
- WGS-84: World Geodetic System 1984 - Most widely used global standard
- SAD-69: South American Datum 1969 - Standard for South America
- Córrego Alegre: Brazilian datum used in older maps
- SIRGAS 2000: Geocentric Reference System for the Americas
How to Use
- Select the input format and datum of your coordinates
- Enter the coordinates in the input field (one coordinate pair per line for multiple conversions)
- Select the desired output format and datum
- Click 'Convert' to get the result
Important Notes
- When the datum is unknown, WGS-84 is recommended
- For UTM coordinates, specify the zone and hemisphere
- Multiple coordinate pairs can be converted at once (one per line)
- Each line should contain one complete coordinate pair
- Results will be numbered according to the input lines
- Results are automatically formatted according to the selected output format
