The Marcgrave herbarium is a book-herbarium containing the earliest plant samples from Brazil, collected by Georg Marcgrave (1610-1644) who visited the former Dutch colony, from 1638 to 1644. It comprises 173 sheets, with dryed material of 149 species, including medicinal, cultivated and other useful plants from the northeastern Brazil.
