The Fish Collection of the Museu de Zoologia "Prof. Adão José Cardoso" of the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp) is composed of about 80.000 recorded specimens preserved in alcohol. The specimens are from several areas of Brazil but mostly form the Southeast (~52%); of these latter, ~70% are from the state of São Paulo. The collection has marine and freshwater fishes, and is being formed mostly by the efforts of researchers of the Unicamp. The cataloging and computing record of the collection is in progress with the use of the databank software MS-Access. The specimens and the data in the collection are available to accredited researchers, as well as to consultation by graduate and undergraduate students, duly authorized and accompanied by the curator or the technician responsible for the collection.
